Electoral Trust · Assure
Independent electoral trust and risk assessments
Through Assure, our Electoral Trust program, we assess how well an election system is protected against failure and loss of public trust, and what to fix first. We also work on voter and civic education and on money in politics.
Assessments
What we assess and who it is for
What we assess
We look at the legal framework, election administration, complaint and dispute resolution, judicial safeguards (including threats to adjudicators), voter information, and money in politics.
Who it is for
Our assessments are for state and local governments, election administrators, and political parties that are acting in good faith to improve the process.
Speed and quality
Our assessment and monitoring systems are thorough and fast, and they keep costs down without lowering quality. Because we draw on a roster of vetted experts, we can put a team in place quickly.
What you receive
You receive a written assessment with a quantitative risk index as a baseline, prioritized recommendations, and a briefing for your leadership. We can re-measure later with the same instrument, so progress can be shown.
Voter and civic education
Showing people how the count works
People trust elections more when they can see how the process works and when mistakes are explained openly. We help officials and civic groups explain the process in plain language, through trusted local voices.
Money in politics
Making political money visible
Money will always play a part in politics. We do not take positions on outcomes. Our work is on transparency and accountability: timely disclosure to inform voters, oversight bodies with the power to audit, and open data standards that states can adopt.
